GMTV survey shows that 95% of people are worried about debt
A third of all the debt in Europe is owed by the British. With the average household debt reaching a staggering £8,600.
GMTV conducted their own online survey, asking how people felt about debt and how they dealt with financial difficulties. This is what they discovered:
- 95% of GMTV viewers are worried about debt with 53% feeling constantly feeling worried and anxious
- 37% have debts over £5,000 with 29% owing over £15,000
- 47% have been rejected for new credit
- 75% were knowledgeable about credit cards and loans and how to work them, but 70% have struggled to meet the minimum repayments
- 44% have moved credit cards to better offers while 56% have never done this
